Tooth decay is often the result of poor oral hygiene habits encouraging the bacteria in your mouth to attack and exploit your tooth enamel. Should you procrastinate having a cavity treated, it will inevitably spread. Severe tooth decay can cause a tooth to fracture badly or otherwise become lost.

To replace a tooth lost to severe decay, your dentist, Dr. Jeremy Borsky, might recommend a dental bridge restoration. A dental bridge in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a false tooth that replicates the appearance and function of the original tooth. It is fused to a pair of crowns on each end. It will eventually be anchored on abutments that are formed from the two neighboring teeth.

Your dentist will create the two abutments by removing the tooth enamel layer of each neighboring tooth. The dentin sheaths surrounding the healthy pulp and root of each tooth will later anchor the bridge in place.

A detailed impression will be made in the area. It will be used by our off-site dental lab technicians as a guide for creating your new bridge. Temporary crowns will then be cemented over each abutment to protect them while we await the completion of your new bridge.

When your bridge is ready, we will call to schedule a second appointment. This session will be brief as your dentist will simply remove the temporary crowns and cement your bridge firmly onto the abutments.
